5 ways to entertain your followers without trying too hard

Hey hey Reader!

So I'm not a comedian or good at jokes by any means...but I like to think I make people laugh with my goofiness!

I noticed that in the past year, my "entertaining" content where I incorporate humor was less than previous years. And I kinda lost myself in trying to be all "AUTHORITY BUILDING". Why can't I do both?

In fact, if you recall, I won "Best Dancing Reel" for this reel recently at The Reelies Awards show not because I danced well...but I made humor out of being a content creator/business owner/mom.

So I made a commitment to myself to bring that humor back once a week on Friday's - it's my weekly "entertainment" post!

But I get it – not every business is a laugh-a-minute comedy show. But even if your business is more “serious,” that doesn’t mean your content has to be boring! Adding a bit of humor to your Instagram can help you connect with your audience on a real, human level (plus, who doesn’t love a good laugh, right?).

So, if you’ve ever found yourself thinking, “But my business isn’t funny!”—don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with some ideas to spark that creativity.

Here are 5 ways you can add a dash of humor to your Instagram (yes, even if you’re selling something super serious, like tax services):

1. Show the “Behind-the-Scenes” Chaos
You know those moments when everything goes a bit sideways while you’re trying to run your business? Share those! People love seeing the human side of things, whether it’s you juggling a hundred shipping boxes or your printer deciding to quit on you mid-project.

2. Play with Popular Memes
Who doesn’t love a good meme? Take a meme that’s already trending and put your own spin on it. Trust me, if you can relate it back to what you do, your audience will get it—and love it.

3. Self-Deprecating Humor
Sometimes, laughing at yourself is the best way to connect with your audience. Share those moments where things didn’t go perfectly or poke fun at the everyday challenges you face as a business owner. It’s relatable and shows you’re human, just like them!

4. “Expectation vs. Reality” Videos
What do people think your industry is like vs. what actually happens behind the scenes? Create a fun Reel showing the difference—it’ll get laughs, and people will appreciate the honesty!

5. Turn FAQs into Fun Content
We all get those frequently asked questions, but who says answering them has to be boring? Make a funny video or post where you answer them in a humorous or exaggerated way. “How do I use this product?” could become a full-on adventure!

I hope these ideas help you get those creative juices flowing and bring some laughter into your content! Don’t be afraid to have fun with it—your audience will appreciate seeing your lighter side.

Until next time, keep creating (and laughing)! 🤗

Cheers,
Prathi
